Air Force Museum

This past Friday we got to go to the National Air Force Museum.
We all piled into a church bus & away we went!
After we stopped at Tim Hortons, of course! :-)
Here it is!  It had three HUGE hangars!
Here's one hangar... Thought of you, Sam! :-)

It takes you on a tour starting with the early years of flight.

This document was SO interesting to read!
They had a lot of interesting things!
I thoroughly enjoyed myself! :-)

I love their Michigan spirit! ;-)
 And another one! :-D
This part was probably my favorite!
It was so sad and yet so intriguing!
So many interesting stories about people
who lived during the time of WWII.
Nazi "prison camp" outfit.

The story behind this violin was so interesting
and yet so sad!  A young Jewish boy's apartment
was destroyed and his family taken, and in the
midst of this the German soldiers ordered him
to play German tunes from his balcony for those
below.  He recalls that he wept as he played the
happy German tunes!  So sad!
This is the man when he is older with his violin.
Here he is as a young boy.
All the men who flew in the "Doolittle Raid" during WWII are
represented by a goblet.  Those who are still surviving have their goblets
still standing upright.  There were only five goblets upright.

Here it's picturing a man still in his pjs on the morning
of December 7th when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.
 Unbelievable!
The plane that dropped the little boy and
the fat man on Japan, thus ending WWII!

 The Fat Man
We got to go inside a crew plane.
Mom, I thought you'd appreciate this picture :-)

 Present Day Flight
 Space Flight

Of course, we had to get a picture of THE Minuteman
by the Minuteman Shuttle! :-)
We thought it would be a neat picture to get one
in between these two space shuttles.  You can barely
see us, though!  These things are massive!

It's incredible to me how many planes they had
at this museum!  I guess that's why it's the National
United States Air Force Museum! :-)

It was such a neat place to go, and we could've spent
many more hours there!  We didn't even go to one
of the Hangars, too!  I'd definitely suggest going
if you haven't gone.  It was very neat!
